In an effort to support our communities, an independent effort has been launched to train and staff the Columbus Pride Parade with legal observers. Our goals are to establish visible, impartial, and trained legal observers throughout the 2018 Pride Parade in order to deter unconstitutional law enforcement behavior, deter violence by establishing a presence of visible observers, make available impartial witnesses to incidents giving rise to legal action and document interactions between police and civilians.
This project is not sponsored or led by any entity.
Volunteer Legal Observers will be trained and provided with garments for the Parade in order to be visible.
The Columbus Pride Parade is on Saturday, June 16 with Step Off at 10:30am. The Parade will start in the Short North near Goodale Park and end at Genoa Park. To participate, you must be available on Saturday, June 16 from 9:30am until 2:00pm in Downtown Columbus.
Mandatory Training Sessions will be held Monday, June 4th, 2018 at 5:30pm-6:30pm and Saturday, June 9th, 2018 at 9:30am-10:30am. You only need to attend one. Both will be held in Room 1 of the the Northside Branch of library at 1423 N. High.
