Ash Wednesday confronts us with a stark reminder of our mortality and sinfulness. To heed this call is not to despair. Instead, we respond with repentance while trusting a merciful God. It’s a call to depend on and rest in the work of Christ. On Ash Wednesday we begin the 40 day season of Lent that leads to Easter, where we celebrate God’s victory over death, and the promise of life. The journey begins with us facing our sin as we spend an evening in prayerful repentance and confession and hope-filled worship.
We will have childcare for infants, toddlers, and 4-5 year olds.
The 2018 lent prayer guide is available for free. You can pick up a copy at the Ash Wednesday gathering or at a following Sunday gathering. It is also available online here:
You are also invited to join us for our WEEKLY LENTEN VESPER SERVICES on Sunday evenings at 5pm, February 18th-March 25th.
The season of Lent is a valuable time for the church to reflect on our need for the gospel. We can experience God’s presence and grace in ways outside our normal rhythms of life. During the 40 days of Lent, one of the ways we encourage you to engage is by attending the Weekly Vespers Services (“Vespers” – Latin for “a service of evening prayer”) every Sunday evening at 5pm-6pm, February 18th through March 25th (the Sundays between Ash Wednesday and Easter). Each evening we will be led through times of contemplative scripture reading, prayer, worship music, and singing. Join with us as we seek to know, experience, and celebrate the grace of Jesus this Lent season.
