Natalie's Coal Fired Pizza and Live Music
5601 N High St, Worthington, Ohio 43085
With songs that effortlessly float from softly orchestrated lullabies to raw and raucous love songs, the music of Hey Mavis is best described as “Appalachian Americana”. Their lyrics focus heavily on the beautiful imagery of life, the joy and labor of raising children, and the timeless themes of love and heartbreak. The group is fronted by Laurie Michelle Caner and Eddie Caner, who have led them from humble porch concerts in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park to Finalist in the Telluride Bluegrass Festival Band Contest.
Laurie Michelle Caner’s (vocals, banjo) banjo playing beautifully serves as a foundation for her lyrics. Her songwriting tells the story of life—with all of it’s beauty, heartache, disappointment and joy—weaving a musical tapestry that speaks the truth of love, life and the human condition.
Eddie Caner (violin, viola profunda) spent a dozen years performing as a sideman in national touring bands and orchestras, including Page & Plant, Luciano Pavarotti, Smokey Robinson, and Natalie Cole. Eddie always amazes the audience with his Hendrix-like tone and precision—he can soar beautifully over Laurie’s vocals or play a raucous, dirgy groove.
