Experience the sights of community history and holiday traditions. The Southwest Franklin County Historical Society, the City of Grove City, Southwest Public Libraries and Grove City Town Center Inc. invite you to celebrate an evening of old-style holiday fun on the Historic Christmas Tour from 4 to 8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 9. Stop by Century Village, 4185 Orders Road; the Grant-Sawyer Home, 4126 Haughn Road; or the Grove City Museum, 3378 Park St. Hop on the coach to tour each destination. Tours are free, but donations to the Grove City Food Pantry of non-perishable food items are encouraged. Tours end at 7:30 p.m.
Planning to visit each site on your own? Parking is available in Town Center near the museum and library, at Century Village and on Gladman Avenue between Columbus Street and Sawyer Avenue.
Century Village offers a charming Christmas experience complete with historical buildings adorned with traditional decorations. Enjoy music, wassail and cookies, and visits with Saint Nick. Purchase old-fashioned, handmade holiday gift items. The 40th Regiment will set up a Civil War encampment to depict era-appropriate winter activities in the fire pit area of the village.

At the museum, view a holiday display featuring festive decorations from Grove City's past including a quaint, winter model train village and listen to player piano performances of period Christmas music. Visit with Santa from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

The Southwest Public Libraries Grove City Branch, 3959 Broadway, has a full day of events. Beginning at 10 a.m., Signs of Christmas performs. This musical group spreads holiday cheer and awareness of deafness and impaired-hearing issues by signing carols. Children ages 4-12 are invited to Elf Training from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the Large Meeting Room. Participants enjoy snacks, crafts and activities designed to prepare them to be one of Santa's elves.
Don't forget to vote for your favorite Christmas lights in Grove City Town Center Inc. businesses. Join Santa at one of his stops. Santa will visit the Grove City Library in Harper's Grove, 3959 Broadway, to read "'Twas the Night before Christmas" at 4 p.m. and stay for photos until 6 p.m. His next stop is Country Hearth Primitives, 3937 Broadway, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Visit the City's Christmas tribute to the Nutcracker with an animated window display reminiscent of retail displays from the 1950s depicting fanciful scenes from the classic tale of Clara and the battle between her beloved Nutcracker and the Mouse King at City Hall, 4035 Broadway. The display operates Monday through Friday, 4 to 10 p.m., and noon to 10 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.
