On Wednesday, August 16 at 7:00 pm, the Columbus KTC Buddhist Center is hosting a Columbus Premier Film event at the Gateway Film Center. The film, Yangsi, by filmmaker Mark Elliot, focuses the reincarnation of one of Tibetan Buddhist revered Tibetan Buddhist meditation master.

All money raised from this event will be used to help build a new Buddhist Meditation Center. In late January 2016, an arsonist set fire to our building and it was destroyed. Help us raise money for our new home!

Yangsi at 7:00 pm (1 hour 20 minutes long)

Yangsi, the newest documentary by director, Mark Elliot, offers an intimate portrait of a young Tibetan boy who is recognized as the reincarnation of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, one of the most revered Tibetan Buddhist masters in the twentieth century. He is known as the “Yangsi”, “the one who has come again into existence.”

The young boy, Jigme Lhundrup, must train to uphold this legacy from the age of four. Even with the loving support of his teachers and family the way forward is not always clear. Questions begin to arise about the place of his tradition in the modern world, and his own abilities.

In this documentary film, director Mark Elliott (“The Lion’s Roar”, “Bodhisattva”) follows a journey spanning fourteen years, culminating in the Yangsi’s introduction to the world as a young man, when he must fully assume the mantle of his predecessor. With unprecedented access, “Yangsi” explores everyday life within a mystical tradition and reveals the unusual spirit of the boy at its center. Shot on location in Bhutan, Nepal, India, France, and the United States.

Tickets can be purchased online at The Gatefilm Center. (Link coming soon!)

Sponsorship to cover the cost of the theater rental. Sponsors will be recognized and presented with a gift during the film event.
