It’s officially Spring, which means it’s time to shake off the winter blues and blahs and get on down to Bossy Grrls Pin-Up Joint tomorrow night at 7 PM to hear
Rikki Santer is a gymnast when it comes to language. Her sometimes non-linear poems bend and reshape words and phrases in ways that allow your head to bend in rewarding directions. She has worked as a journalist, a magazine and book editor, co-founder and managing editor of an alternative city newspaper in Cleveland, and a poet-in-the schools. She earned a M.A. degree in journalism from Kent State University and a M.F.A. degree in creative writing from OSU. Her work has won honors from The Poetry Forum, Black Lawrence Press's St. Lawrence Book Award Competition, Ohio Poetry Association, a 2016 Pushcart Prize nomination, and a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Two of her published poetry collections have explored place: Front Nine (the Hopewell earthworks of Newark, Ohio) and Kahiki Redux (the late Kahiki Supper Club). Clothesline Logic was published by Pudding House as finalist in their national chapbook competition, and her latest collection, Fishing for Rabbits, was published by Kattywompus Press. She has a new collection, Make Me That Happy, forthcoming from NightBallet Press.
Join us Monday at 7 PM at Bossy Grrls Pin-Up Joint, 2598 North High Street in Old North Columbus. Bring a friend. Bring some money for the hat (or we can take your donation by credit card). Bring a few of your own poems to read in the open mic.
